Social Security Disability benefits are payable to disabled workers, widows, widowers, children under age 18, or adults who have been disabled since childhood.

The ability to collect SSDI will depend on your work history and what you have paid into the system.

The Social Security Administration only considers total disability from employment, not partial or short-term disability.

If you are unable to work due to a physical, medical or mental health condition, you may qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
